How hypnosis can help with anxiety caused by stress.

We are often reminded in the mainstream news of the many health issues in the world such as diabetes, influenza, heart disease and of course cancer. This news is real and it affects all of us. We all know someone who’s been affected by some of these things. Sometimes we personally experience them too.
As Australians, we are lucky and fortunate to live in this wonderful corner of the world. We have no wars and high standards of living. But health issues don’t discriminate between wealth, geographic location, race, religion or gender.

There’s also another epidemic out there too, less known because it’s less openly talked about. It touches many people. Many people and their families struggle to help their loved ones with it. It is stress and anxiety caused by stress.

Hypnotherapy is one way of getting help to deal with stress at work and cope with anxiety attacks. In my tool box, I use traditional hypnosis combined with Emotion Freedom Technique or EFT. The hypnotherapy process rewires the brain, creating new neural pathways. Over a series of sessions, clients learn that they can control their responses and actions during stress and anxiety attacks. You can recognise the stress and diminish it. As you get stronger and more confident you get healthier and happier too.

This is a process, it takes time and perseverance and it’s not a quick fix. The therapy in the Hypnotherapy Sydney clinic is the foundation, but the effects are long lasting and the clients can use the EFT techniques immediately.
Most clients can experience a gradual, but quite a rapid improvement in their stress conditions. The process can be further improved by building up a coping strategy and resilience to stress and anxiety.

What is EFT or tapping?

EFT is a form of psychological acupressure, based on the same energy meridians used in traditional acupuncture to treat physical and emotional ailments for over five thousand years. Tapping works without the invasiveness of needles.
EFT is also commonly referred to as tapping, it is a combination of Ancient Chinese Acupressure and Modern Psychology that works to physically alter your brain, energy system and body all at once. The practice consists of tapping with your fingertips on specific meridian points while talking through traumatic memories and a wide range of emotions.

Many people dealing with mental health and psychological well-being issues often feel ashamed and/or embarrassed to discuss them openly. “I am a diabetic” is socially acceptable. “I’m dealing with stress, depression or anxiety” still isn’t. It is often judged as a weakness.

Our mental well being could be described as a spectrum ranging from white to black. White being positive, happy, confident and resilient through the various shades of gray, to the dark black. The symptoms of these conditions are varied, even mild versions of them are debilitating, scary and exhausting to say the least. Just as our physiological well being is our responsibility, so too is our psychological health.

If you are experiencing stress, it’s advisable not to ignore it.

“Mental pain is less dramatic than physical pain, but it is more common and also more hard to bear. The frequent attempt to conceal mental pain increases the burden: it is easier to say “My tooth is aching” than to say “My heart is broken.”

~ C.S. Lewis
